Surfboard Ding Repair in Bouznika, Morocco: Prices, Timing, and When to Stop Using Tape

Surfboard ding repair Bouznika Morocco is not a boutique hobby. It is how boards survive this coast. Sand, roof racks, other people’s fins, and the occasional closeout will open glass. If you leave that hole to the Atlantic, the foam drinks salt and the board gets heavier, softer, and sadder.

Painting, restoration, and cleaning are separate conversations when you want the board to look like something again, not just float.

Why tape is not a repair

Sun-bleached gaffer tape keeps water out for a session if you are desperate. It does not bond to foam. It peels. Sand gets under it. You have now made my job dirtier and the yellow stain wider.

If you ding a board at the end of the day, rinse the hole with fresh water if you can, dry it, tape it overnight, bring it in the morning. That is first aid. Glass is the treatment.

What I look at when you walk in

• Is the glass cracked through or just a bruise?
• Is foam wet, yellow, or crumbling?
• PU or epoxy? They do not take the same fillers and solvents. See PU vs epoxy ding repair.
• Rail vs deck vs tail — rails are structural. A “small” rail ding can be a bigger job than a wide, shallow deck scratch.

Pressure dings confuse people. The skin looks intact; the foam underneath is crushed. That is its own article: pressure ding vs crack.

Timing: the part travellers hate

Resin needs to cure. Humidity and winter cold slow that down. If you fly home tomorrow, tell me at the start. We can sometimes patch to get you through a last session and do a proper job if you leave the board. We cannot honestly make a wet delam “good as new” in two hours because you have a dinner in Casa.

Same-day is for small, dry, simple hits. Be kind to the chemistry.

How dings happen here (so you can do fewer of them)

• Shorebreak on a greedy last wave
• Nosing the sand on a foam board you thought was unsinkable
• Stacking boards in a trunk without a sock
• Fin to deck in a weekend crowd
• Leash plug spinning because it was already loose and nobody checked

A weekly surfer should glance at rails in daylight once in a while. If you see white spider cracks, do not wait for a hole.

Shaping, restoration, and “can you make it pretty?”

People ask for custom paint, colour work, and bringing a yellowed PU back from the dead. We do that work. It is slower and dearer than a 100 dh nick. If you want art, say so. If you want to surf Saturday, we glass first and talk about paint later.

Bring the board, not a speech

Photos help if you are still in Casa. In person is better. I will tell you if it is 100 dh or if the foam is already soup.
